New Delhi, June 20 : The Jammu and Kashmir Police has been adjudged the Best Performer in Passport Seva for the year 2025-26, securing the coveted Institutional Performance Award for State Police for the second consecutive year.

The recognition was conferred at the Passport Seva Divas, organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on June 18-19. Minister of State for External Affairs presented the Certificate of Recognition to Shri Peerzada Naveed, JKPS, SSP SB CID, who received the award on behalf of the Union Territory’s police force.

Official data reveals that between April 2025 and March 2026, J&K Police completed an impressive 1,64,354 passport application verifications. The MEA lauded the force for its pivotal role in streamlining processes, significantly reducing turnaround time, and ensuring seamless coordination with Passport Seva Kendras across the UT.

“This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our officers and staff who have worked tirelessly to make passport services more accessible and efficient for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” stated the Director General of Police, J&K.

Officials noted that the initiative has not only bolstered public trust but also facilitated ease of travel for citizens, catering to both personal and professional needs. The J&K Police had earlier received the same distinction in the previous year, underscoring its consistent excellence in service delivery. (KNS)
