Srinagar, Aug 4: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday condemned the killing of civilians in South Kashmir, asserting that no religion permits such violence and calling upon security agencies to prevent future attacks.
“No religion allows you to kill innocent people. No matter how much you criticise it, no matter how many words are used against it, it will be less,” CM Omar said as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) on J&K Open 2026 inauguration.
The chief minister also flagged the responsibility of the security establishment in the valley.
“The people responsible for maintaining security here, it is expected that they will not allow such attacks,” he said.
Earlier, CM Omar performed the ceremonial tee-off at the Royal Springs Golf Course to mark the start of the fifth edition of the J&K Open, a flagship event of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).
The tournament, being held from August 4-7, carries a prize purse of Rs 1 crore and features top professional golfers from across the country.
Notably, Three persons, including a policeman, have been killed in two separate terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir over the past 10 days, prompting authorities to place the Valley on high alert even as the Amarnath Yatra continues. (KNS)
