Ganderbal, Oct 29: Director Colleges, Higher Education Department, Jammu and Kashmir, Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri on Thursday visited Government Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal to review academic infrastructure, student facilities and the overall functioning of the institution.

During the visit, the Director inspected science laboratories, the college library and the Department of Physical Education to assess the availability and quality of facilities provided to students.

The college currently caters to approximately 2,300 students enrolled in Science and Arts disciplines.

Prof. Suri was received by Principal Dr. Sadaf Nazir and Dr. Rafiq Ahmad. She interacted with faculty members and students to obtain feedback on academic activities, teaching-learning practices and facilities available on the campus.

Emphasising the need to strengthen academic standards, the Director called for regular classroom teaching, timely completion of the prescribed syllabus and effective academic planning to ensure uninterrupted learning.

She stressed that academic discipline and a supportive learning environment must remain central to the functioning of higher educational institutions.

The Director also underscored the importance of maintaining a clean and green campus, ensuring high standards of health and hygiene, and providing adequate facilities for students’ physical and mental wellbeing.

She said educational institutions must focus on the holistic development of students alongside academic excellence, with particular attention to creating a healthy, inclusive and student-friendly campus environment.

Prof. Suri reiterated the importance of institutional commitment towards quality education, student welfare and effective academic management. (KNS)
