Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Resigns, Cites Health Reasons

Says it was an honour to serve the nation; thanks President, PM, and Parliament

New Delhi, July 21 : In a major political development, Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar has resigned from his post with immediate effect, citing health concerns and the need to follow medical advice.

In his resignation letter addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, Dhankhar stated that he is stepping down in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Indian Constitution. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the President for her consistent support and the cordial working relationship they shared during his tenure.

“I extend my deepest gratitude to Your Excellency – the Hon’ble President of India – for her unwavering support,” he wrote.

Dhankhar also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers for their cooperation, describing their support as “invaluable said he learned a lot while holding the office and deeply appreciated the trust and warmth he received from Members of Parliament.

“It has been a privilege and satisfaction to witness and partake in India’s remarkable economic progress,” he said, calling his time in office a true honour.

As he exits office, Dhankhar said he is filled with pride over India’s rise on the global stage and expressed confidence in the country’s bright future.

The letter was submitted to the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan, bringing an end to his term as the country’s 14th Vice President.(KNS)
