Srinagar, July 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Home Department on Monday issued an order relieving Dr. Sunil Gupta, IPS (2007), from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to take up his new assignment as per directions from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to Government Order No. 380-Home of 2025, Gupta, who served as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Crime J\&K, has been relieved with effect from July 28 afternoon.The decision comes following a communication from the Ministry of Home Affairs dated June 19, 2025.

In his place, Sujit Kumar, IPS (2007), currently serving as IGP Security J&K, will take over the additional charge of IGP Crime, J\&K. He will handle both roles until further orders.(KNS)
