Srinagar, Aug 12 : At the Tiranga Rally held in Srinagar on Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah highlighted the power of individual action in bringing about meaningful change.
Speaking to the gathering, the Chief Minister reflected on a time when hoisting the national flag at one’s home was not permitted. “There was a period when the tricolour could only be displayed on government buildings,” he noted.
Abdullah shared the story of a young Indian who, during his time studying in the United States, was inspired after seeing fellow students proudly displaying their national flags in their rooms.Realizing he couldn’t do the same back home, the student returned to India determined to challenge the restriction. He pursued the matter legally and eventually helped secure the right for citizens to fly the national flag at their residences.
“This is proof that even one determined person can make a difference,” Abdullah said. He urged the public to uphold the dignity of the national flag and to view it as a symbol of collective identity and respect.(KNS).
