Srinagar, Oct 19 : The Border Security Force (BSF) and the Indian Army have increased vigilance along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the Diwali celebrations.

Officials told the Kashmir News Service (KNS), that security measures have been stepped up to ensure the safety of residents and to maintain border stability during the festival period.

“National security is our Diwali. While citizens prepare for the festival, our focus remains on maintaining vigilance along the International Border and the LoC. We are conducting night patrolling and constant monitoring to ensure that no incident disrupts peace in border areas,” they said.

Officials said night patrolling has been intensified in multiple sectors along the International Border in Jammu division and in the LoC areas of north Kashmir.

They added that personnel are deployed around the clock to monitor any unusual activity and to maintain readiness for a prompt response.

A BSF official in Jammu told reporters that the force is fully prepared to meet any security challenges. “Our main focus is to ensure that citizens can celebrate Diwali without facing any threat from across the border,” he said.

Another BSF officer posted in the LoC sector in north Kashmir said that teams are actively patrolling high-risk points during night hours. “We have maintained our presence along key sectors to monitor cross-border movements and prevent any untoward incidents. Our operations continue through the night,” he said.

Indian Army officials confirmed that coordination between the army and the BSF has been strengthened to respond quickly to any situation along the borders. One army officer posted near the LoC said that both forces are working together to ensure smooth surveillance and immediate response capability. “Joint patrolling and observation posts have been increased to cover strategic areas,” he added.

Local residents in border areas also said that security personnel have been visible during night rounds and that border areas remain under constant observation.

Officials said that despite the festive season, security forces will continue their operations without interruption.

The BSF and army personnel remain on high alert to respond to any potential threats along both the International Border and the LoC.

The security arrangements aim to ensure that citizens can carry out Diwali celebrations in peace while maintaining vigilance along sensitive border regions.(KNS).
