Srinagar, Dec 01 : Jammu and Kashmir National Conference MP Chowdhary Ramzan on Monday said the elected government in the Union Territory has no authority, with all key decisions resting with the Lieutenant Governor.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Ramzan said the people of Jammu and Kashmir had voted in the 2024 Assembly elections, resulting in a government led by the National Conference with support from Congress, independents, and others.

He said the alliance, holding nearly two-thirds of the House, has no control over administration.

“All decisions originate from the office of the LG, leaving the elected government without power,” Ramzan said as per KNS.

He added that in a border region like Jammu and Kashmir, the mandate of the people must translate into administrative authority, otherwise the purpose of an elected government is defeated.(KNS).
