Srinagar, Dec 18 : A Union Territory level police conference, ‘Antarvekshan 2025’, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, was held in Jammu on Wednesday, bringing together officers from across the security and emergency response spectrum to deliberate on the future of policing in Jammu and Kashmir.

Held on the lines of the Directors General of Police (DGsP) and Inspectors General of Police (IGsP) conferences, the event was attended by officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police ranging from Sub-Inspectors to senior ranks.

Personnel from the Home Guards (HG), Civil Defence (CD), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Prosecution, Fire and Emergency Services, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) also participated.

Among those present were Forensic Advisor to the Government of Assam Keshav Kumar, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Director IIT Jammu, Prof Manoj Singh Gaur. A total of 375 police officers attended the conference in person, while around 90 officers joined virtually.

The day-long conference featured six technical sessions focusing on key challenges and evolving priorities of policing. The sessions covered Imperatives for J&K Police in Viksit Bharat: Policing in 2047, Role of Artificial Intelligence in Policing, Terrorism and Foreign Interference in J&K: Threats and Measures, Role of Police Stations in Internal Security and Public Service Delivery, Successful Investigation and Prosecution: Role of Forensics and Technology, and Role of Police in Disaster Management.

On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Jammu and Kashmir Police and IIT Jammu, aimed at strengthening cooperation in areas of technology, research and capacity building.

Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Special Director General (Coordination) SJM Gillani, and Additional Director General (Headquarters) MK Sinha briefed the gathering, highlighting the need for technology-driven policing, professional training and stronger coordination to address emerging security and public service challenges in the Union Territory.(KNS)
