Srinagar, March 2 : The police on Monday appealed for peace and restraint in view of recent developments in the Middle East, urging citizens to maintain public order and avoid violence.

In a post on X, the Kashmir Zone police said people have the right to express their views through lawful and peaceful means. However, incidents such as rioting, stone pelting, clashes, and disruption of public order at certain locations are not acceptable.

The statement warned that violence and destruction of property could result in injuries, loss of life, restrictions, closure of educational institutions, and hardship for families, traders, students, and daily wage earners.

Police appealed to all sections of society to exercise restraint and refrain from provocation. It also said strict legal action would be taken against instigators and those involved in unlawful activities.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to uphold the rule of law and protect life and property.(KNS)
