Srinagar, Mar 7 : Jammu and Kashmir MLA Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi on Saturday reiterated his demand for the withdrawal of FIRs against mourners and the release of youths detained during condolence gatherings held over the death of Ali Khamenei.
In a statement, the legislator said several youths were detained during the condolence congregations and called for their immediate release.
Mehdi said the administration had earlier assured that those detained would be released but the process has not started yet.
He said the delay in releasing the youths was causing distress to the detainees and their families.
The MLA urged the authorities to release the detained youths and withdraw the cases registered against them.(KNS)
