Jammu, Apr 8 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday called for strengthening institutional mechanisms and developing heritage-based tourism circuits to position the Union Territory as a key cultural tourism destination.

Chairing a meeting on heritage promotion and cultural tourism here, CM Omar Abdullah as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) reviewed measures for the conservation and adaptive reuse of heritage assets.

The chief minister emphasised that preserving historical sites and repurposing them for tourism-related activities would not only protect the region’s rich legacy but also boost local economy.

Officials said the meeting discussed strategies to identify heritage properties and integrate them into a circuit-based tourism model. (KNS)
