Jammu, Apr 29 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday issued a stern directive to fortify the security grid across Jammu Division, mandating an “impenetrable shield” against emerging threats and zero tolerance for terror sympathizers, as he chaired a high-level review meeting on the region’s law and order, the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, and preparations for upcoming pilgrimages including the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

The meeting, held at the Raj Bhavan here, was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dullo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, and other top civil and police officials, including Divisional Commissioner Jammu, IGPs, DIGs, Deputy Commissioners, and SSPs from across the division, officials stated.

During the exhaustive review, DCs and SSPs briefed the Lt Governor on district-wise security scenarios, the progress of the 100-day campaign under the ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan’, and ground-level preparedness for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Kausar Nag Yatra, and Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra.

Emphasising seamless coordination between police, civil administration, and security forces, Sinha directed officials to identify and dismantle “narco-corridors” in Jammu Division completely. “Stringent action must be taken against drug smugglers and peddlers with a whole-of-society approach. Conduct a region-wise study on substance abuse trends and a Vulnerability Index using WHO methodology,” the Lt Governor instructed.

On the security front, Sinha issued a firm directive for unwavering inter-agency coordination to create an impenetrable security grid. He called for the strictest possible action against individuals and over-ground workers (OGWs) harboring terrorists. “Those who shelter threats to national security will be met with zero tolerance,” he asserted.

The Lt Governor also stressed on regular conduct of Block and Thana Diwas for speedy redressal of public grievances. With an eye on the Amarnath Yatra 2026 and other pilgrimages, DCs and SSPs have been directed to conduct comprehensive district-level reviews. Additionally, Sinha pushed for seamless execution of the Vibrant Villages Programme, focusing on rural health, economic transformation, and mandating 100% screening for non-communicable diseases.
