Srinagar, May 1 : The body of a four-year-old boy, who had drowned in a stream in south Kashmir’s Shopian district earlier this week, was recovered on Friday, officials said.
The child, identified as Hanzallah from Tiken area of Pulwama district, had slipped into the water near Dubjan Bridge last Sunday while accompanying his father, they said.
Officials said the body was traced this morning in the Rambi Ara Nallah near Heerpora, several kilometres downstream from the spot where the incident occurred.
Soon after the incident, teams of the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, police and local volunteers launched a search operation, which continued for nearly six days.
Despite sustained efforts by rescue teams, the boy could not be located until Friday morning, when his body was recovered from the stream, officials said.(KNS)
