Sopore, May 4 : Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Minister Javid Ahmad Dar on Monday dismissed talk of internal differences in the National Conference (NC), calling it “baseless rumours”.

“There are no differences. Why would you pay attention to rumours? Everything is alright,” Dar told reporters on the sidelines of a private function in Sopore as per KNS.

His comments came amid speculation that some NC MLAs were considering leaving the party.

On the West Bengal assembly election trends, minister Dar said democracy allows different outcomes in different states.

“People have voted for change there. The BJP has come there. In other states, Congress has come somewhere. Some other party has come somewhere. It is a part of democracy,” he said.

The agriculture minister, however, remained non-committal on panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir. “The notification will be issued at an appropriate time,” he said, without elaborating.

Minister Dar also refused to comment on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent remarks on Urdu, saying it would be “inappropriate” after the CM had already clarified his position.

He, however, added that Urdu was “getting more and more popular”, while acknowledging that “apprehension is still present” among some sections. (KNS)
