Kupwara, May 4 : A road project connecting Kupwara with Baramulla will be taken up soon with an allocation of ₹50 crore in the current financial year, MLA Lolab Qaysar Jamshaid Lone said on Monday.
The project will link Dursu to Zaingair and is aimed at improving regional connectivity, Lone said, adding that the proposal has been submitted and is expected to be sanctioned shortly.
“An amount of ₹50 crore has been earmarked for this year. Once the project is sanctioned, work will start on the ground,” he said as per KNS.
The MLA said efforts are also underway to push the proposed Bandipora tunnel project, which he described as important for connectivity as well as strategic and developmental needs of the region.
He said he has taken up the matter with senior leaders and concerned authorities, including members of Parliament and Union ministers, to expedite the project.
Lone said focus is being laid on strengthening infrastructure in the constituency, including roads, drinking water supply, irrigation and communication networks.
He added that development works have picked up pace in the past one-and-a-half years and reiterated his commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people.(KNS).
