Srinagar, May 20 : The Jammu and Kashmir government has renamed a government school in Anantnag district after slain tourist guide Aadil Hussain Shah, with Minister Sakeena Itoo saying his sacrifice will inspire generations.

The school, previously known as Hapatnar High School, has been officially renamed as Shaheed Aadil Memorial High School at a ceremony attended by the minister.

Aadil Hussain Shah lost his life while protecting tourists during a terror attack in Pahalgam last year. His act of bravery was widely praised across the Union Territory.

Speaking on the occasion, ?minister Sakina Itoo said Shah’s courage and selfless act reflected extraordinary humanity.

“His sacrifice will always be remembered. The government’s decision to rename the school is aimed at honouring the martyr and ensuring future generations remember his bravery,” the minister said.

She recalled visiting the attack site on the same night and said the incident had left a deep impact on everyone.

Education minister added that the recognition would also provide emotional support to the bereaved family. “Aadil Hussain Shah’s name will continue to inspire people for years to come,” she said. (KNS)
