Baramulla, Aug 9 : Police in Baramulla have attached property worth over ₹69 lakh and obtained an arrest warrant against an accused in a 2008 militancy-related case, officials said on Sunday.
The attachment order was issued by the special NIA court in Sopore in connection with a case registered at Chandoosa police station under various sections, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Enemy Agents Ordinance, a police spokesperson said.
The attached property — land measuring 12 kanal, one marla and 73 square feet — belongs to accused Parvaiz Ahmad Famda, a resident of Kawhar Bala in Chandoosa. The land has been valued at ₹69,82,550, for which a valuation certificate has also been obtained, the spokesperson added.
In a related development, the court also issued an arrest warrant against another accused, Abdul Rashid Bhat, a resident of Rajpora, Chandoosa, in the same case.
The action is part of the ongoing crackdown against individuals involved in unlawful and anti-national activities, the spokesperson said, adding that police are committed to pursuing such cases to their logical conclusion in accordance with the law.
