Srinagar, June 30 : Amid the intense heatwave sweeping across the valley, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) Kashmir on Tuesday issued a public advisory urging citizens to refrain from visiting the office premises unless it is absolutely unavoidable.
In a bid to ensure public convenience while safeguarding them from the scorching temperatures, the RTO has launched a dedicated WhatsApp helpline. The move is aimed at facilitating seamless delivery of transport-related services while minimising physical footfall at the office.
According to an official communiqué issued by the RTO accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) citizens facing any grievance, issue, or requiring assistance pertaining to transport services have been advised to submit their complete details via the WhatsApp number 9622002432.
The RTO has assured that all grievances will be redressed within a stipulated time frame of 48 hours. “If any additional information or documents are required, the applicant will be informed through a reply on WhatsApp itself,” the notice read.
The public has been earnestly requested to make use of this digital facility and avoid unnecessary visits to the office during the prevailing heatwave conditions.
The advisory comes as Kashmir continues to reel under unusually high temperatures, prompting authorities across departments to issue health and safety warnings for the general public. (KNS)
