Srinagar, Jul 3: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch, Kashmir, has filed a chargesheet against the owner of an education consultancy for allegedly cheating several job seekers by promising employment in Bahrain and providing forged documents after collecting lakhs of rupees from them, officials said on Friday.
The chargesheet was filed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, in connection with FIR No. 67/2021 registered under Sections 420, 468 and 471 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) against Fayaz Ahmad Zarger, a resident of Qutub Din Pora in Srinagar.
According to the EOW, the case was registered following a complaint alleging that Zarger, who operated M/s HR Choice International Education Consultancy at Karanagar, Srinagar, promised to arrange a job in Bahrain in return for money.
The investigation found that the accused had allegedly cheated the complainant and several other job aspirants by collecting lakhs of rupees and issuing forged job offer letters, visas, air tickets and other fabricated documents.
Officials said the accused allegedly made the victims undergo online interviews, medical examinations and sign agreements to make the job offers appear genuine.
However, no employment was arranged and the money paid by the victims was neither refunded nor returned, the investigation revealed.
The allegations were substantiated during the probe, following which the chargesheet was filed before the competent court for judicial proceedings, officials said.
The EOW has advised the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent job offers and report suspected cases of economic fraud to the Crime Branch. Victims can also lodge complaints with the SSP, EOW Kashmir, through the designated email address, officials added.(KNS).
