Srinagar August 3 : Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday said that in a landmark development for the Union Territory, the revered Hazratbal Dargah has undergone its first major interior renovation since 1968.

He said that the restoration, spearheaded by Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi and the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, represents a significant step in preserving and elevating the region’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

The renovated shrine showcases a seamless blend of modern design elements and Kashmir’s centuries-old artistic traditions, creating a space that reflects both reverence and contemporary aesthetics, he said

Union Minister Kiran Rijiju hailed the project as a “proud cultural milestone” for Jammu & Kashmir, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their “vision and unwavering support” in making this transformation possible.

He also said that the extensive renovation not only aims to enhance the experience of devotees but also reinforces Jammu & Kashmir’s position as a custodian of rich cultural and spiritual legacies.

The initiative marks a renewed focus on heritage preservation in the region, blending tradition with innovation while reaffirming the spiritual centrality of Hazratbal Dargah in Kashmiri society, he added.(KNS)
