Pattan, Sep 10 : Reacting to the recent law and order situation in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) chief and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said the Lieutenant Governor is responsible for maintaining peace and administration in the Union Territory.
Speaking to reporters in Pattan, Baramulla district, Abdullah said, “He is the Lieutenant Governor. The entire police force is under him in J&K. He is responsible for everything. Whatever happens there, he will take care of it.”
His remarks came after protests erupted in Doda following the booking of lawmaker Mehraj Malik under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA). The protests led to restrictions being imposed by the administration today to control the situation.
Abdullah also addressed calls for a special assembly session in Jammu and Kashmir, stating, “Now people are saying that a special assembly session should be held there. That speaker will have to decide about it.”(KNS)
