Man Posing as TTE Caught Red-Handed on Moving Train in Jammu

Jammu, Feb 23 : A man posing as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) was apprehended on a train in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, the railway authorities said.

A senior railway official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), the incident took place on train number 12476 (Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Katra – Hapa) during a routine check between Jammu and Kathua stations.

Official said Shekhar Kumar, a ticket checking staff member at Jammu station, noticed a suspicious individual dressed in a full uniform checking tickets. Upon being questioned, the impersonator failed to provide satisfactory answers.

A subsequent investigation revealed that his official identity card was fake. The staff handed over the accused to the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Kathua.

The GRP has registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter he added.

Commending the staff for their alertness, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) passenger safety is the priority of the Railways. He urged passengers to travel with valid tickets and report any suspicious activity by dialling the railway helpline number 139. (KNS)
