Srinagar, Apr 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department said admissions to Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUGP) and Integrated Postgraduate Programmes for the 2026–27 academic session will be conducted on the basis of Class 12 merit, without CUET.

In an advance admission awareness notice, the department said all undergraduate admissions across government degree colleges in the Union Territory will be granted on the basis of 10+2 scores.

It said a centralised admission portal will be introduced for the process, through which students will be required to register and submit their applications. The portal link and registration details will be notified separately.

“Students will be required to submit their course and college preferences on the portal, and allotment will be made based on merit and preferences,” the notice said.

The department said the detailed admission schedule, including dates for registration, preference filling, allotment rounds and fee payment, will be notified separately.

Advising students and parents to prepare in advance, the department said candidates who have passed or appeared in the Class 12 examination from JKBOSE, CBSE or any recognised board are eligible to apply.

Students were also encouraged to explore programmes offered by government degree colleges and visit campuses to understand the structure of FYUGP under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The department said admission counselling and facilitation cells have been established in all government degree colleges to assist students with course selection, eligibility and programme details.

It also highlighted key features of NEP 2020, including multiple exit options — certificate after first year, diploma after second year, degree after third year, and honours or research after fourth year.

The formal admission notification, including complete details and registration link, will be issued shortly, it added.(KNS)
