Srinagar, May 11 : In a major shift from manual processes, the Jammu and Kashmir Directorate of Colleges on Monday launched a centralized online portal for degree college admissions for the upcoming academic session.

Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) Director Colleges J&K, Dr Sheikh Aijaz Bashir, said the common portal, developed at the directorate level, went live on May 9.

“All 142 degree colleges and nearly 60 programs are visible on the portal,” Dr Bashir told KNS.

He stated that admissions will be strictly merit-based on 10+2 marks. Students have been asked to register and fill their college-program preferences on jkadmissions.in by May 27. The first merit list will be released on May 30, followed by a second list on June 8 and a spot round from June 18.

“All fees must be paid online through a payment gateway. There is no manual involvement anywhere,” the Director emphasised. Classes are scheduled to commence on June 15.

To assist students, particularly those from remote areas, facilitation centres have been set up in every college where students can obtain information about any institution.

The Director advised students to consider nearby colleges, saying, “Attention is better in small colleges… most small colleges now have the infrastructure and trained faculty.” (KNS)
