Srinagar, Oct 11 : The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Sunday forecast generally dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir till October 12, followed by a fresh spell of rain and light snowfall over higher reaches from October 13 to 15.

According to the latest weather forecast, the Union Territory is expected to witness generally cloudy conditions between October 13 and 15, with light rainfall at many places and light snowfall over higher reaches.

The department said thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are also likely during the period, particularly on October 13 and 14.

On October 16, the weather is expected to remain generally dry, although brief spells of light rainfall may occur at a few places.

The Meteorological Centre has forecast predominantly dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir from October 17 to 23, indicating an improvement in weather conditions following the anticipated wet spell.

Meanwhile, the department has advised farmers to continue harvesting operations and ensure the safe storage of harvested apples and paddy to prevent possible damage from adverse weather conditions.

The MeT office has also cautioned people against possible thunderstorms and gusty winds, advising them to remain alert during the forecast wet spell. (KNS)
