Baramulla, May 12 Says rehabilitation path being prepared for drug addictsSays rehabilitation path being prepared for drug addictsSays rehabilitation path being prepared for drug addicts: Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Minister and National Conference senior leader Javid Ahmad Dar said that the government is working on a rehabilitation path for those involved in drug abuse, and all medical colleges and hospitals are open for treatment.

Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) after the ‘Padyatra’ led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Baramulla, Minister Dar described drug addiction as a disease and urged society not to stigmatise or boycott affected children.

“This is a disease, just like any other. We should sympathise with the child instead of hiding it,” Dar said, adding that families often hide the issue and end up abandoning the child.

He called upon civil society, imams, khateebs, and community leaders to come forward and spread awareness to make the LG Sinha led campaign successful.

On the debate over ban on alcohol, Agriculture minister said alcohol is “illegal in Islam” and his government is not in favour of it. He said certain statements made on the issue have already been clarified. (KNS)
