Srinagar, May 13 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has decided to reduce the size of his official convoy by half in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for austerity and fuel conservation measures, officials said on Tuesday.
Officials at the Raj Bhavan said the decision was taken in keeping with the prime minister’s emphasis on economical use of resources, reduction in unnecessary expenditure and promotion of sustainable practices in governance.
According to officials, the lieutenant governor’s convoy during official visits and movements across the Union Territory will now comprise fewer vehicles while ensuring that all mandatory security protocols remain in place.
They said the move is aimed at promoting fuel conservation, reducing vehicular congestion and encouraging administrative efficiency without compromising security arrangements.
Officials described the decision as part of broader efforts towards responsible governance and prudent use of public resources.
They said the lieutenant governor also expects government departments and public institutions in Jammu and Kashmir to adopt similar measures focused on efficiency, sustainability and cost-effectiveness.(KNS)
