Srinagar, Jun 3 : The Higher Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday published the first round of undergraduate college allotments for the 2026-27 academic session and asked selected candidates to complete admission formalities within the stipulated timeframe.

The Directorate of Colleges said the Round-1 College/Major Allotment List has been uploaded on the centralised admissions portal, jkadmissions.in, enabling applicants to check their allotment status and proceed with admissions.

According to the department, candidates allotted seats can either confirm their admission by depositing the prescribed fee online or opt for upgradation by paying an additional Rs 1,000 to be considered for a higher-preference college or course in the next round.

Students confirming their admission will have to report to their allotted colleges for physical verification of original documents within the notified schedule, while those opting only for upgradation are not required to visit colleges at this stage.

The department said candidates who were not allotted seats in the first round would be allowed to revise their preferences before the second round. Unregistered candidates will get an opportunity to seek admission against vacant seats during the spot round.

The revised schedule for fee submission, document verification, the second round of allotments, spot admissions and commencement of class work has been notified separately on the admissions portal.

The department also advised newly admitted students to attend induction programmes at their respective colleges to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP).

Director Colleges J-K Sheikh Ajaz Bashir urged allotted candidates to complete admission formalities within the prescribed timelines to avoid cancellation of seats. He also asked candidates awaiting allotment and those yet to register to make use of the upcoming admission windows.

Applicants have been advised to regularly check the admissions portal for updates regarding the admission process, the department said.(KNS).
