Dachigam meet was planned for ‘hindrance-free’ discussion

Asif Malik

Srinagar, Jun 5 : National Conference chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq on Friday said the opposition speaks only when it has nothing substantial to raise, asserting that the party’s legislature wing will take a collective decision on reminding the Centre about its promises.

“It is the job of the opposition to say something or the other when they have nothing to talk about. Let the legislature party of the National Conference speak,” Sadiq told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).

“Fifty MLAs will come together and take a decision that the time has come to remind Delhi of its promise,” the Zadibal MLA said.

He said the opposition has been cornered. “Now what will they talk about? We believe the time has come to deliver the message to Delhi, and we will do that,” he added.

Asked whether Congress would be invited to the meeting, Sadiq said, “I have already spoken to Congress leaders. A meeting will be held with them. Congress is a part of us and will always remain.”

On the recent Dachigam meeting, he said, “We wanted every MLA to sit together without any hindrance or confusion. At the headquarters, there are other things. So we decided to hold it at Dachigam.”

MLA Sadiq said the party sat together for seven hours, discussing all issues including reservation for youth, alcohol and drug abuse, and regularization. “How to implement everything was discussed,” he added. (KNS)
