Sopore, June 05 : Police in north Kashmir’s Sopore police district on Friday launched a district-wide plantation drive on World Environment Day, planting more than 500 saplings across various police establishments, including police stations, posts, and the District Police Lines (DPL) Sopore.
An official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) SSP Sopore Iftkhar Talib-JKPS participated in the drive at DPL Sopore along with other senior officers and personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Iftikhar Talib said tree plantation was a simple yet effective step towards combating climate change, improving air quality, and ensuring a greener future for coming generations.
Police personnel pledged to ensure proper care and maintenance of the planted saplings, officials said.
The drive aimed to promote environmental awareness and collective responsibility toward nature conservation official said.
The official further added Sopore Police reiterated its commitment to environmental sustainability and urged citizens to actively participate in tree plantation and conservation efforts. (KNS)
