Jammu, Aug 12: The BJP on Wednesday dismissed the possibility of any imminent expansion or reshuffle in the Omar Abdullah-led Cabinet in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that the Chief Minister prefers to govern through a coterie of his “inner circle” rather than accommodating the aspirations of his party colleagues.
BJP spokesperson Dr. Abhijeet Jasrotia claimed that the recent treatment of a National Conference MLA in the Assembly, coupled with the selection of candidates for the Rajya Sabha, clearly indicates that only those with personal proximity to CM Omar Abdullah are likely to be rewarded.
“Only those enjoying the personal proximity of Omar Abdullah are being rewarded with posts and power. The recent snubbing of an NC MLA in the House just reflects Omar Abdullah’s intent to continue relying on his inner circle,” Dr. Jasrotia said in a statement.
Drawing a parallel with the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP leader alleged that such a practice is common in “dynastically run parties” where leadership is confined to a select few.
“The core problem with parties like Congress, National Conference, SP, and JMM is that they are person-oriented rather than organisation-oriented. Because of this, organic growth of leadership – or ‘Vyakti Nirman’ – remains impossible under dynastic politics,” he said, adding that this trend has left a significant void of honest and credible opposition in the country.
Dr. Jasrotia further remarked that NC MLAs hoping for ministerial berths are only “day-dreaming.” He asserted that such aspirations will remain a fantasy unless they resort to “flattery” towards what he termed the “dictatorial leadership” of the National Conference. (KNS)
