Shopian, July 2 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will visit Shopian on Thursday to review the progress of ongoing developmental works and welfare programmes, and inaugurate a series of public infrastructure projects collectively valued at over Rs 76 crore, officials said.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), during the day-long visit, the Chief Minister will dedicate, lay foundation stones for, and formally inaugurate multiple schemes aimed at boosting the district’s socio-economic profile, they added.

The projects span key sectors including roads, water supply, health, education and urban infrastructure, with a special focus on improving last-mile connectivity and basic amenities in the horticulture-rich district.

Acknowledging Shopian’s strong agricultural and horticultural base, the Chief Minister is also scheduled to hold direct interactions with local farmers and fruit growers, officials said.

The sessions are expected to address issues ranging from crop insurance and market linkages to cold storage facilities and pest management.

District administration has made elaborate arrangements for the visit, including security and crowd management, with senior officers from various departments directed to remain present at the venues official sources added. (KNS)
