Baramulla, Oct 26 : Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting with officials of various departments of Gulmarg Subdivision to ensure a seamless and safe experience for tourists during the upcoming winter season.

The meeting, which was attended by representatives of the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), District Police, Power, R&B, PHE, and Health Department, reviewed arrangements related to snow clearance, road maintenance, uninterrupted power and water supply, and sanitation in the famous tourist resort.

Speaking to reporters according to KNS after the meeting, DC Minga Sherpa said that the prime focus this winter is to provide every visitor—local or foreign—a good facility and memorable experience in Gulmarg.

“We are at the end of October, and early planning is vital. If we prepare in advance, we can handle winter challenges effectively,” he said.

Sherpa appreciated the collective efforts of departmental teams who have worked efficiently over the past two to three years to improve infrastructure and service quality.“We are confident of making further progress this year so that tourists visiting Gulmarg go back with pleasant memories,” he said according to KNS correspondent.

To ensure transparency and prevent overcharging by transporters, the DC informed that the administration has directed the CEO GDA, SDM, SDPO and ARTO to hold a meeting with the Transport Association for fixing uniform rates for vehicles. “These rates will be displayed prominently on signboards and digital screens in Gulmarg and Tangmarg, allowing visitors to travel at notified fares,” he added.

Sherpa also revealed that land is being identified for a multi-level car parking facility in Tangmarg to ease congestion.

DC Baramulla urged all departments to finalize winter preparedness plans swiftly to maintain uninterrupted services and uphold Gulmarg’s reputation as a premier winter destination. (KNS)
