Ganderbal, Jun 27 : Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Central Kashmir Range (CKR), Rajiv Pande on Saturday reviewed the security arrangements at the Joint Police Control Room (JPCR) in Baltal ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, officials said.
The review meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal Sudhanshu Dhama and senior officers of the police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
During the visit, the DIG assessed the overall security preparedness, deployment plans, communication systems, traffic management arrangements and coordination mechanisms put in place for the annual pilgrimage, scheduled to begin on July 3.
Officials said the review focused on ensuring a safe, smooth and peaceful conduct of the yatra through coordinated deployment and effective response mechanisms.
SSP Dhama and other senior officers briefed the DIG on the security architecture, advance preparations and measures being implemented along the Baltal axis, one of the two routes leading to the cave shrine.
Pande directed officers to maintain a high level of alertness and strengthen coordination among all security agencies to deal with any emerging challenges during the pilgrimage.
He also asked the officers to further enhance area domination, surveillance, route security and pilgrim facilitation measures to ensure the smooth movement of devotees.
The review comes as security agencies across Jammu and Kashmir have intensified preparations through high-level inspections, anti-drone drills and multi-layered deployment ahead of the commencement of the 38-day pilgrimage.(KNS).
