Gulmarg, Oct 29 : Director Tourism Kashmir Syed Qamar Sajjad on Thursday visited Gulmarg to review preparations for the upcoming winter tourism season and inspect ongoing development works at the popular tourist destination.

Accompanied by Assistant Director Tourism Gulmarg Adnan Nazir, the Director assessed the readiness of tourism infrastructure, winter sports facilities and arrangements being made for the expected influx of visitors during the winter months.

During the visit, Sajjad chaired a meeting with concerned officers to review preparations for forthcoming winter events, including the proposed schedule of activities and coordination among departments responsible for their smooth conduct.

The meeting also discussed the preparedness of tourism facilities and the need to complete necessary arrangements before the onset of the peak winter season.

Following the meeting, the Director inspected several tourism facilities and development works across Gulmarg, including the ski shop and drag lifts, to assess their condition and operational readiness.

He also visited Phase-I of the Gulmarg Gondola, where officials of the Gondola administration briefed him on the facility’s preparedness and the progress of ongoing infrastructure works.

The Director reviewed operational arrangements at the cable car facility, which remains one of Gulmarg’s major tourist attractions, particularly during the winter season.

Sajjad stressed the importance of completing development works within stipulated timelines and ensuring proper maintenance of existing infrastructure.

He directed concerned officials to maintain close coordination so that visitors and winter sports enthusiasts do not face avoidable inconvenience during the tourist season.

The visit forms part of the Tourism Department’s preparations to strengthen tourist amenities and winter sports infrastructure in Gulmarg ahead of the anticipated increase in tourist arrivals. (KNS)
