Anantnag, Apr 8 : In a firm commitment on his first day in office, newly-appointed Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Ashok Nagpure (IPS) on Wednesday declared that making Anantnag drug-free would be his foremost priority, asserting that the fight against substance abuse cannot be won by police alone.
“I appeal to the people of Anantnag to support us in the fight against drugs. This will be our main priority,” SSP Nagpure told reporters after assuming charge from his previous posting in Udhampur as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).
The SSP said substance abuse has severely impacted the community, and public support must be at the core of this battle. To facilitate direct communication, he shared his personal mobile number – 7051-000-999 – which will remain active round the clock.
“People can share any information related to narcotics peddling or consumption. I assure that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential,” SSP Nagpure said.
In a bid to enhance transparency and accessibility, the SSP also announced that his office will remain open to all citizens on working days without prior appointment.
With joint efforts, the district will move towards stability and become drug-free, he added. (KNS)
