Srinagar, Feb 24 : An FIR has been registered after officials of the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) were allegedly assaulted during an inspection in Gulmarg, police said on Tuesday.

According to the complaint filed at Police Station Gulmarg, the incident occurred on February 24 when a team of GDA officials visited the tourist resort following reports that some individuals were illegally collecting parking fees from visitors.

The complainant alleged that when the officials reached the spot to verify the information and take necessary action, they were confronted by a group of persons who allegedly assaulted and manhandled them.

The officials also accused the group of obstructing them from discharging their lawful duties and issuing threats during the altercation.

Police said a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections related to assault or use of criminal force against a public servant, obstruction of duty and criminal intimidation.

An investigation has been initiated and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused, officials said, adding that further legal action will be taken as per law.(KNS).
