Srinagar, Apr 18 (KNS): The first batch of Hajj pilgrims departed from Srinagar’s Bimina Haj House on Saturday, with police putting in place a multi-layered security blanket including drone surveillance and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) to ensure a smooth start to the annual pilgrimage.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sandeep Chakravarthy, visited the Haj House on the opening day of departures and extended his greetings to the pilgrims.

Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) Srinagar police chief said “First of all, I would like to congratulate all the pilgrims from the bottom of my heart. Best wishes to everyone for this holy journey. This pilgrimage is a life-changing spiritual journey for our brothers,” the SSP said.

He prayed that the worship of the pilgrims be performed peacefully and safely.

For the next 10 days, the Srinagar Police have deployed comprehensive security arrangements at the Haj House, including access control, CCTV surveillance, drone monitoring, and QRTs.

“Together with the civil administration, we are ensuring that no pilgrim has any kind of inconvenience. We will ensure their departure smoothly,” Dr. Chakravarthy added.

As the first batch left for the holy sites, the SSP prayed for a safe and healthy 40-50 day journey for all pilgrims and for the acceptance of their worship.

Meanwhile, Authorities have appealed to pilgrims to cooperate with security personnel during the ongoing departure process. (KNS)
