Srinagar, Nov 10 : The political confrontation between National Conference (NC) chief Omar Abdullah and BJP leader Sunil Sharma continued on Monday, a day after Abdullah swore on the Quran denying claims that he had approached the BJP for an alliance in 2024.

On Sunday, Sharma had challenged Abdullah to swear on the Quran, accusing him of secretly seeking the BJP’s support in exchange for statehood restoration.

Abdullah responded on social media, stating that he had not sought any alliance with the BJP in 2024 for statehood or any other purpose.

On Monday, Sharma told KNS, Abdullah himself had previously indicated that BJP members had offered him a position, which he had rejected.

Sharma said he had also shared additional video clips suggesting that Abdullah had earlier considered political negotiations with BJP representatives, including meeting senior leaders in Delhi.

Sharma questioned Abdullah’s public statements, noting that the NC leader had denied the BJP’s claims while swearing on the Quran.

He said the video clips he had shared showed that Abdullah had acknowledged being offered a seat and had referred to BJP leaders as “stupid,” which Sharma said contradicted his current claims.

Sharma also addressed the upcoming Budgam by-election, saying that voter enthusiasm appeared high.
He noted that the BJP had campaigned actively and that the party had received visible support from the public during the election campaign.

He said the outcome of the by-election would be determined by voters, without making any specific predictions.(KNS).
