Srinagar, Dec 27 : Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Syed Agha Ruhullah Mehdi, on Saturday said he will stage a protest outside the Lieutenant Governor’s office if the reservation file is found pending with the LG administration.

Speaking in support of students demanding clarity on the reservation process, the MP expressed strong concern over the lack of communication from the administration. He said it is the government’s responsibility to inform students about the status of the file and the steps taken to resolve the issue.

“If officials are unable to speak to the students and give them confidence, I am ready to speak for them and support them on every platform,” he said.

He urged the government to reach out to students and brief them about the progress of the reservation file. “There is still time until tomorrow. If the administration has sympathy for these students, they should call them, speak to them, and take them into confidence,” he added.

The MP also extended an open invitation to ministers and elected representatives to join the protest if the file remains with the LG administration. “If the file is with the LG, and the government fails to engage the students, I will protest outside the LG office tomorrow,” he further said.

Agha Ruhullah also condemned incidents of mob lynching in both India and Bangladesh, stating that the killing of any innocent person through mob violence or extrajudicial means amounts to terrorism. “Whether the victim is Muslim or non-Muslim, lynching is terrorism,” he said.

Reaffirming solidarity, he said he will continue to stand with students. “Wherever the students sit, I will sit with them. If the file is with the LG, I am ready to protest against it,” he added.(KNS)
