Srinagar, Apr 17 : Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, VK Birdi on Friday ordered heightened vigil and intensified cordon and search operations in sensitive areas across the valley, as he reviewed security arrangements for the upcoming tourist season, traffic management, and Hajj preparedness.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) the security review meeting was held at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir and was attended by senior officers from the CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, the Army’s 15 Corps, Traffic Police, and district SSPs.

During the meeting, IGP Birdi directed officers to strengthen area domination and intensify surveillance against anti-national elements. He stressed the need to secure vulnerable installations, including prominent tourist destinations, and enforce strict surveillance along inter-district boundaries to prevent suspicious movement.

Special directions were issued for effective traffic management in Srinagar city, with officials asked to implement a comprehensive plan to ease congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement.

The IGP also reviewed Hajj preparedness and directed officers to ensure adequate security and facilitation for pilgrims at all designated points.

District heads were instructed to maintain strict vigilance over social media platforms to curb the spread of misinformation. The meeting concluded with a resolve to maintain high standards of coordination and responsiveness for all forthcoming events, officials added. (KNS)
