Srinagar, September 20 : Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar on Sunday visited Handwara and reviewed the prevailing security situation, counter-terrorism grid, law and order preparedness, crime scenario and overall operational readiness of the district.
Kumar was accompanied by DIG North Kashmir Range, Dr Vinod Kumar, during the visit.
SSP Handwara Tahir Saleem Khan briefed the IGP Kashmir on various security and operational aspects of the district, including the prevailing security situation, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, intelligence inputs, area domination measures, security of vulnerable locations, law and order preparedness and the prevailing crime scenario.
During the review, the IGP Kashmir emphasised the need for strengthening a public-friendly approach in policing, improving crime disposal and devising effective strategies in accordance with field requirements.
He stressed the importance of maintaining operational preparedness and ensuring a prompt and effective response to emerging security and law and order challenges.
Kumar appreciated the commitment, dedication and professionalism of police personnel deployed in challenging operational areas.
He exhorted all ranks to remain vigilant, maintain a high level of preparedness and continue discharging their duties with dedication and professionalism to ensure the safety and security of the public. (KNS)
