J&K ACB registers 3 FIRs against officials of Transport, RDD and CAPD departments

Jammu Sep 17 : The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered three separate FIRs against government officials over allegations of illegal assets, corruption and misuse of government food grains.

The first case, FIR No. 06/2026, has been registered against Ashwani Kumar, an employee of the Motor Vehicle Department, Jammu.

The ACB said Kumar allegedly acquired assets beyond his known income through illegal means. The assets include shops, plots, flats and luxury vehicles.

Searches were conducted at his house in Vinayak Nagar, Muthi, Jammu. Further investigation is going on.

In the second case, FIR No. 03/2026 has been registered against Sheeba Inayat, JKAS, former Block Development Officer, Singhpora/Pattan.

The case relates to allegations of assets beyond her known income. The ACB said the assets include bank balances, FDRs, LIC policies, jewellery, a five-storeyed shopping complex in Baramulla and plots of land in Baramulla, Gulmarg, Kreeri and Chowadi, Jammu.

Searches were conducted at her residential and office premises. Further investigation is underway.

In the third case, FIR No. 04/2026 has been registered against Sheeba Inayat, JKAS, former Assistant Director, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Department, Baramulla, Mohammad Shafi Rather alias Kandaman, former Salesman in the department, and others.

The case relates to alleged irregularities in the distribution of government food grains between June 2013 and June 2015.

The ACB said its verification found food grains worth Rs 26.32 lakh allegedly diverted from APL to BPL/AAY categories.

It also found a shortage of 16,763.77 quintals of food grains worth Rs 1.67 crore, differences in distribution records involving 6,120.13 quintals worth Rs 61.20 lakh, and probable loss of government revenue amounting to Rs 6.74 lakh.

The agency also alleged irregularities in ration card records during the 2014 floods.

The ACB has alleged that the total loss to the government was Rs 2.61 crore.

Searches were conducted at the residential and office premises of the accused persons, and incriminating material was seized.(KNS)
