Jammu, Oct 25 : Jammu and Kashmir Bank on Sunday opened an Easy Banking Unit (EBU) at Chakra village in Hiranagar area of Kathua district to improve access to banking services for residents of rural areas.

Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated the facility in the presence of MLA Rajiv Jasrotia, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma and J&K Bank General Manager and Divisional Head Jammu Ashok Gupta.

The new banking unit is expected to provide residents of Chakra and adjoining villages with easier access to banking services, reducing the need to travel to distant branches for routine financial transactions.

According to the Bank, the facility forms part of its efforts to expand banking coverage in rural areas and improve financial inclusion by bringing services closer to underserved communities.

The Bank said the initiative would also support local economic activities by improving access to financial services suited to the needs of rural households and businesses.

Former MLA Kuldip Raj, local representatives, senior administrative officials, Bank officers and residents attended the inauguration ceremony. (KNS)
