Srinagar, March 19 : A fresh fashion trend is driving a sharp rise in demand for traditional Kashmiri bangles across the Valley ahead of Eid, with young buyers leading the surge.
Local markets in central Kashmir, North and South Kashmir are witnessing increased footfall as colorful bangle sets gain popularity, largely influenced by viral videos on Instagram. Retailers say the trend has picked up rapidly over the past few weeks.
Vendors report that a pack of Kashmiri bangles is selling between Rs 300 and Rs 400, making them an affordable festive accessory. Young girls, in particular, are driving sales, often purchasing multiple sets to match different outfits for Eid celebrations.
Talking to a young buyer, Fatima Shabir from central Kashmir, she said that i bought three packs of Kashmiri bangles for myself and my cousins for Eid. I saw these bangles trending on Instagram, and I really liked the colors and designs. They look bright and festive, which makes them perfect for Eid.
My cousins also liked them when I showed them the videos, and they asked me to get a pack for each of them when I visit Srinagar, she said.
“These bangles are trending online, and customers come asking for the same designs they see in videos,” said a local shopkeeper Fayaz Ahmad in Handwara. “Demand has doubled compared to previous weeks.”
The bangles, known for their vibrant colors and intricate patterns, have long been a part of Kashmiri culture. This year, however, social media exposure has brought them back into focus among the younger generation, he added.
With Eid approaching, traders expect demand to rise further, turning this viral trend into a seasonal boost for local businesses.(KNS)
