Udhampur, Dec 28 (TKM): Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Cooperative Election Javed Dar on Sunday said Kisan Melas help bridge the gap between the government and farmers, ensuring that benefits of schemes reach the grassroots.

Speaking to reporters during a Kisan Mela in Udhampur, Dar said the programmes aim to create awareness among farmers and youth about various Central and UT government schemes. He said several areas of the district had remained neglected for decades, but the present elected government is focused on inclusive development.

“These programmes provide a direct platform for farmers to interact with officials, understand schemes, and highlight their issues,” he said.

The minister said stalls set up by different departments informed farmers about government schemes and encouraged them to avail benefits. He noted that Udhampur’s hilly belts, including Pancheri, Mongri, Basantgarh and Latti-Dudu, have immense potential in agriculture and horticulture.

Dar expressed satisfaction with the talent and efforts of local farmers and assured that similar Kisan Melas would be organized at block levels in the coming days to strengthen rural development and reconnect the government with farmers.(TKM)
