Srinagar, Mar 7 : The Meteorological Department on Saturday forecast generally cloudy weather with light rain and snowfall in higher reaches at several places in Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days.

According to the MeT office here, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy between March 7 and 9, with light rain and snowfall in higher reaches at isolated places.

From March 10 to 12, the region is likely to witness generally cloudy conditions with light rain and snowfall in higher reaches at many places, it said.

The MeT department said a few higher reaches of Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Anantnag districts may receive moderate snowfall during this period.

Between March 13 and 15, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with light rain and snowfall in higher reaches at isolated places, the department said.

Similar weather conditions are likely to continue from March 16 to 17, with generally cloudy skies and light rain or snowfall in higher reaches at isolated places, it added.

The MeT office has advised farmers to suspend farm operations between March 10 and 12 in view of the expected weather activity.

It also said that day temperatures are likely to fall by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius at many places across the region after March 9 and may remain below normal till March 12.(KNS).
