Srinagar, September 22 : Prominent tour and travel operators from Mumbai on Saturday said that they, along with tourism stakeholders, will work together for the revival of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), they said it is their collective responsibility to revive the tourism sector in J&K, even if they have to bear some losses in the beginning. They added that profit will eventually return and tourism will play a key role. They stressed the need to work together to help people’s dreams come true, they said.

They expressed confidence that if all stakeholders unite, their dream will be fulfilled and they will feel satisfied. They said the good news is that air ticket prices are now under control. The direct train from Katra, which takes just three hours, is running twice a day. The weather is also beautiful.

They recalled that when the Pahalgam incident happened earlier, they had spoken with hoteliers of Kashmir and brought a delegation from Mumbai. They noted that Mumbai and Gujarat together contribute about 65 percent of tourism. They suggested organizing a roadshow again to draw attention to the tourism of Kashmir Valley.

All travel agents should be invited and that they should meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. That if an announcement is made at that level, the vibrancy and charm of the place will return once again, they added.(KNS)
