Jammu, Oct 12 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday attached a residential property in Srinagar used to harbour Pakistani terrorists belonging to the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit and conceal incriminating material linked to a cross-border terror conspiracy, officials said.
The property, located at Khasra No. 315 in Danihama village of Hazratbal, belongs to accused Ghulam Mohammad Mir, alias Mama Gas, and has been attached in connection with case RC-02/2026/NIA/JMU, the agency said in a statement.
The attachment was carried out under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, after obtaining the requisite prior approval of the NIA Director General.
According to the agency, its investigation established a direct link between the property and the terrorist conspiracy, with the premises reportedly used to shelter Pakistani terrorists and conceal incriminating material connected to the terror network.
The case was initially registered as FIR No. 24/2026 on March 31 at Zakoora Police Station in Srinagar before being taken over and re-registered by the NIA.
The agency said its investigation had uncovered a network of local overground workers (OGWs) operating in coordination with Pakistan-based LeT handlers to facilitate the infiltration, movement, shelter and logistical support of Pakistani terrorists.
The network was allegedly involved in facilitating terrorist activities targeting government establishments, security forces and civilians, it said.
During a search conducted at Mir’s residential premises in Danihama on April 6, investigators detected two suspected Pakistani terrorists, identified as Abu Huraira and Khubaib, who were allegedly associated with LeT.
An explosive-like substance, digital devices and other incriminating material were also recovered and seized from the premises during the operation, the agency said.
The NIA said that Mir had knowingly provided his residential property as a safe haven for the terrorists and permitted its use for facilitating their activities.
The agency said further investigation was underway to identify the entire terror-support network, including other overground workers, facilitators and individuals linked to Pakistan-based handlers. (KNS)
